Inspired by a hike in Australia, racing the sunset up through dense bush. The trail never seems to end. Every step sharpens the senses as the island comes alive around you: birds calling, insects buzzing, unseen creatures rustling through the undergrowth. Steep rock crumbles underfoot, and eagles call close by. Then the canopy opens. The sun sinks into the emerald sea far below and sets the whole sky alight, a few minutes of pure magic before the long walk down in the dark.

Thick growth crowds the foreground in oil, acrylic and spray paint, built up and cracked into a web of texture that catches the light like leaf litter, a tangle of life in every layer. Nestled in the canopy a baby bird chirps. A celebration of biodiversity in all its splendour, rich in texture and colour.
